We Got The Beat

'There are only so many chords and notes...' That message resonates through the music industry, especially when the new Big hit sounds suspiciously like another radio giant from a time barely past.

The good news is there are some bands like: The Editors, Presets, The XX, and many more that seem to have found a hidden well of fresh sound. Tapped into and back-tracked, these sounds give us unique music that you'd be proud to pump in your car. And some artists like Yuri Lane craft their unique use of instruments and genres to make some tunes that take real, hard skill to perfect their sound.

No He Didn't!
I play harmonica and it's my first pick of instruments to play. Seemingly simple, anyone can pick one up and play...
but like any other instrument, it takes a lot of practice and work to play well. Having to control your breaths and neck angle for notes, pitch and bending is a lot harder than it first appears. Beatboxing well, while playing good mouth organ is astounding. Imagine playing piano while plucking a standing harp.

He Did The Mash...
While on the topic of using old in the new, there are some DJs out there that can spin some mighty fine new music out of almost anything already on the market. Back-tracking, sampling, remixes and mash-ups are usually either REALLY GOOD or REALLY BAD. If you like live DJ spin, DJ Enferno hammers out some amazing renditions of "I'll Be Watching You" by: The Police, and "Another Brick In The Wall (part2)" by:Pink Floyd.
But if you're looking for some radio mash-ups that you'd be proud to have your friends and neighbors hear, I give you...
The White Panda.

'till next time, have fun. Keep the music pumpin'
